The founder of the Boone County Clinic and current Riggs Community Health Center CEO was awarded with a prestigious state recognition for her work in expanding the center’s Lafayette base as well as expanding further into Boone County and Clinton County with new facilities.
On Wednesday, June 26, State Representatives Chris Campbell and Sheila Klinker presented Dr. Bambi McQuade-Jones with a Sagamore of the Wabash award for her work with Riggs Community Health Center, which hosts locations in Frankfort and Lebanon alongside other regions.
The Sagamore of the Wabash award is one of the highest honors given out by the state in recognition of an individual’s service to their community and the state, which Dr. McQuade-Jones was awarded as the CEO and CMO of Riggs Community Health Center alongside her distinguished career in medicine.
From her early career as a pediatric nurse through her years as a healthcare nurse practitioner, she built a reputation that led to her current roles at Riggs Community Health Center.
Dr. McQuade-Jones jumpstarted a local community clinic in Lebanon, known as Boone County Community Clinic, before expanding the practice into a stand-alone, not-for-profit community health clinic. In 2014, she became the CEO of Riggs Community Health Clinic, which has since grown its presence in the Lafayette Community, merged with Boone County Clinic in Lebanon, established a facility in Frankfort and doubled many Lafayette clinical departments, including dental. Chair of Riggs Board of Directors Travis Duell expressed his thoughts on Dr. McQuade-Jones’ accomplishments.
“Our Board was happy to initiate the nomination of Dr. McQuade-Jones for this prestigious award,” Duell said. “Over her 10-year career at Riggs, Dr. McQuade Jones has transformed Riggs into one of the most outstanding Community Health Centers in the State. Through her leadership and guidance, we have seen the number of patients increase through both the number of locations we are able to serve our clients and the services we are also able to offer. In addition to the increased outstanding patient care, she has built a strong long-term financial model that will allow Riggs to continue to provide high-level patient care as we move forward.”
