Roger Lee Fogle, 71, slipped peacefully into eternity on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born in Tucson, Arizona, on August 4, 1952, a son of the late John W. Fogle and V. Joyce (Thatcher) Fogle.
On February 10, 1978, he was married to Roxanne E. (Hinkle) Fogle in Lebanon; she survives. Roger is also survived by his daughter, Mandy J. Fogle (Troy Hammons); brother William K. Fogle (Linda Fogle); mother-in-law, Greta Zeralsky; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law that held a special place in his heart as well as several nieces and nephews.
Roger was a 1970 graduate of Lebanon High School. He was a member of Trinity Chapel in Thorntown. Roger owned “Payless Construction” for 35 years in Lebanon, as well as worked as a warranty officer for Portrait Homes from 2005 to 2008.
Roger was passionate about baseball and softball, playing from pee-wee leagues until he was 63 years old on various co-ed and church leagues. He was on the All-Star team in Lebanon and was drafted to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals in his early years. Roger enjoyed playing pool, he loved animals (especially dogs), he enjoyed watching Christian programs on television, as well as The Three Stooges, Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, and others. He loved to be silly and make others laugh, even having his own “language”, which many people are familiar with.
Roger was real, he didn’t put on heirs for anyone, what you see, is what you get. He was extremely forgiving, non-judgmental of others, he had a huge heart, and would give anyone the shirt off his back. Roger’s story is one of redemption. He lived a rascal of a life for many years, got closer to the Lord, and lived out the remainder of his days dedicated to Christ. He thought it was kind of neat that he partied at the Locker Room for many years, then turned around later in life becoming an associate pastor at the church that was once the bar. The Lord performed a Miracle in 2015 when Roger fell 35 feet off a two-story roof, died four times, then lived to tell about it! His loved ones were blessed to spend eight extra years with him, that without the power of prayer, and God’s healing touch, they may not have had.
More than anything, Roger loved spending time with his wife, Roxanne, his daughter, Mandy, his brother, Bill, and sister-in-law, Linda. Roger loved his family with his whole heart, they meant EVERYTHING to him.
