Mr. Ronald Wayne Hysong, 84, passed away Sunday morning, April 2, 2023, at his home in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born on July 21, 1938, in Lebanon, the only child of Maurice and Elaine (Robertson) Hysong.
Ron was raised and lived all his life in rural Boone County on his family’s farm. He graduated from Pinnell High School as well as Purdue University Short Course for Agriculture. He returned home to farm alongside his father where they grew crops, as well as pork and beef producers. He was a dedicated farmer his entire life. Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He found the love of his life in 1991 and married, Sharon (Drew) Peters. They shared four beautiful daughters together.
Ron was well known around Boone County as he served as president of the Boone County Co-op and board member for the State Bank of Lizton. He was a Shriner and Mason, a member of the Elks, VFW, American Legion, Lebanon Christian Church and attended services at New Brunswick Church of Christ.
The greatest pride and joy of his life was his family and he loved spending time with them. Another joy was his cat, Max. Ron enjoyed sitting on the front porch swing watching the birds, taking care of his yard, and traveling. Ron and Sharon wintered in Florida for over 20 years where they acquired many friendships.
He is survived by Sharon and daughters, Alada (Ray) Jones, Amanda (Dick Anderson) Hysong-Coffman, Angie (Rob) Richardson, and Lori (Shey) Gahimer; grandchildren, Tochia (Mitchell), Courtney, Chelsie (Justin), Jamala (Marcus), Matthew, Michelle (Nathan), Austin (Caitlin), Morgan, Madison, and Lillian; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Old Union Cemetery, rural Jamestown, Indiana. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon has been entrusted with his arrangements.
