Sandra Jean “Sandy” Norris, 86, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 25, 1936, in Indianapolis, a daughter of Norman Groves and Elsie Decker. She was raised by her grandmother, Pauline Groves.
In 1952, she met Kenneth “Kenny” Norris and had their first date at the 16th Street Midget Speedway. They married on October 3, 1954 and together raised five children.
Raised in Indianapolis, she attended Broad Ripple High School with her lifelong friend, Joann Southern. Her first job was with Pittman Moore. Through the years, Sandy had also been employed with Medi-Span, Bell’s Pharmacy, and Waste Management.
She loved the time spent with her family. Sandy enjoyed antiquing, knitting, and reading. Having a strong faith in God, she enjoyed her Bible study and was at peace during her final days.
In addition to her husband, Sandy leaves behind four daughters, Debbie Norris (Ed Ancelet), Tammy Anderson (Tim), Pam Stahl (Dan), and Tyanna Norris; grandchildren, Justin, Kendra, Christin, Andrew, and Courtney; and great grandchildren, Ivan, Ryu, and Cal Elle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Joan Richardson, Patricia Van Wye, Roberta Turner, and Vera Lee Groves; son, Michael Norris; granddaughter, Heather Norris; infant granddaughter, Tricia Anderson; and son-in-law, Chris McFadden. Her furry companion, Ozzy, has been waiting for her in Heaven as well.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her care.
