Saraetta “Sally” Stroup, 99, of Wawaka, IN, passed away July 3, 2025 at her home on Steinbarger Lake, Noble County. She was born June 13, 1926 in Frankfort, to Maurice & Edna Rosella (Stowers) Coffman. She married John E. Stroup on October 29, 1945. They lived in Scircleville, Indiana for 43 years, before moving to Steinbarger Lake, Wawaka, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2017.
Sally attended school in Frankfort, Indiana, graduating in 1944 from Frankfort Senior High School. She loved sewing, reading and was an avid fisherman. One of her greatest joys was fishing out her back door at Steinbarger Lake.
Sally is survived by her dear children, John Willis “Bill” (Jane Ann) Stroup of Columbia City, IN, Linn Cheryl Berg of Bremen, IN, 4 beloved grandchildren, Dave (Tatjana) Berg of Warrenton, VA, Joshua (Nichole) Stroup of Georgetown, TX, Col. AJ (Stephanie) Berg recently stationed in Kosovo, Dr. Kathleen (Kyle) Heimann of Decatur, IN, 10 precious great-grandchildren, Tessa & Aleks Berg, Falon & Rex Stroup, Marko & Eleanora Berg, Sebastian, Francis, Xavier & Veronica Heimann. She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, sister, Wilma Jean Mitchell and son-in-law, Jerry Berg.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Green Lawn Chapel of Peace, Frankfort, IN. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
