The Indiana Electoral College convened in the House of Representatives Chamber at the Indiana Statehouse to formally cast the state’s 11 electoral votes for Donald J. Trump as President and JD Vance as Vice President of the United States.
Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales, whose statutory duties include presiding at the Indiana Assembly of Presidential Electors, remarked on the significance of the event, emphasizing the importance of Indiana’s role in the election process.
During the meeting, Indiana Supreme Court Justice Rush administered the oaths for the Presidential Electors and Alternate Presidential Electors. Secretary Morales and the Indiana Election Division oversaw the balloting and tabulation and announcement of the vote.
“As Secretary of State, it is both an honor and a responsibility to oversee Indiana’s participation in the Electoral College,” Morales said. “We uphold our duty to ensure that the will of Hoosier voters is endorsed, and that our state plays a vital role in electing the leaders of our great nation. Hoosiers spoke and our electors listened, casting each vote for President Donald J. Trump and Vice President-Elect JD Vance. This process reflects the strength of our country. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of election transparency and integrity.”
Indiana’s electoral votes reflect the results of the state’s November 2024 General Election, in which the Donald J. Trump and JD Vance ticket won. The formal meeting of electors marks the final step in the state’s electoral duties before the votes are sent to Congress to be counted during a joint session of the US Congress in early January.
Secretary Morales concluded by reaffirming the state’s commitment to efficiency and fairness in elections, stressing that the process is an essential part of ensuring Indiana continues to lead the way.
