Inside INdiana Business is reporting that the city of Lebanon is looking to add to the growing sports tourism movement in Boone County. The city has announced a partnership with Noblesville-based Card & Associates Athletic Facilities to develop a $25 million multi-sport venue that Mayor Matt Gentry says will “not only bring thousands of visitors to Lebanon, but also add a much-needed amenity for current Lebanon residents.”
The project is part of a planned hospitality and entertainment district that will include two hotels, as well as residential, retail, and medical office space.
The district, which will span 95 acres near I-65 and State Road 39, is being rolled out in multiple phases with the first representing a $113 million investment that will include the sports fieldhouse, a residential community, and city infrastructure and utilities work.
The new fieldhouse will be operated by Card & Associates and feature two turf fields and eight basketball courts, as well as 20,000-square-feet of tenant space. Site work and construction is expected to begin in mid-2022 with the facility slated to open in 2023.
Card & Associates has developed several sports facilities in central Indiana, including the Pacers Athletic Center in Westfield, Finch Creek Fieldhouse in Noblesville, and the Community Sports and Wellness Center in Pendleton.
As part of the first phase, Philadelphia-based real estate company Bel Canto will develop the $72 million residential community, which will include luxury apartments and townhomes, a fitness center, resort-style pool, and other amenities. Bel Canto will manage the property once it is completed.
The additional portions of the project will take place over four phases:
- Retail and a hotel
- Apartments and a hotel
- Medical office building, a coworking cafe, and senior living
- More retail space and restaurants
The entire project is estimated for completion by 2028.
