State Honors Longstanding Clinton County Farm With Hoosier Homestead Award

The F.W. Clark Farm in Clinton County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Sesquicentennial Awardfor being in operation since 1834, according to State Rep. Mark Genda (R-Frankfort) and State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon).

“Congratulations to the Clark family for carrying on our state’s agricultural tradition for nearly 200 years,” Genda said. “This is an incredible accomplishment, and they deserve to be recognized for withstanding the test of time and passing down family traditions for so many years.”

“Family farms contribute a great deal to our state’s heritage,” Buchanan said. “Since Indiana’s earliest days, agriculture has been an important part of who we are as a state, and we are fortunate to have families like the Clark family continue to maintain their farms for generations.”

Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.

These farm families were among 100 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their commitment to agriculture.

Hoosier Homestead award ceremonies are conducted yearly in the spring and summer to commemorate farm families for their legacies and contributions to Indiana’s agriculture industry. Since the program started in 1976, the state has honored more than 6,000 farms with this designation.
