Stone House and 5 Other Buildings at TPA Park Getting New Roofs

Beautiful spaces with historic buildings need to be preserved.  The Stone House east of the snack bar at TPA park is getting a new roof.  This is only one of several buildings getting a new roof, according to Frankfort Park Superintendent Joel Tatum.  The following structures are getting new roofs by Tornado Roofing, a Frankfort based company:

  • Stone House
  • Stone House Garage
  • Gazebo Band Stand
  • Log Cabin (with Cedar Shakes)
  • Office
  • Shop

The entire project with all 6 roofs will be completed for about $48,000 according to Tatum.

“When you have historic buildings you want to preserve, you have to maintain them once in a while.” Tatum said.   Joel pointed out that the Log Cabin will be getting a Cedar Shake Roof because it is an historic site that needs to be maintained accordingly.

Stonework is abundant at Frankfort’s TPA park.  The main shelter, walls and fountain around the shelter near the TPA park entrance and the Bell mount near the Caboose were built in the early 1900’s as part of a “New Deal” work project.

The stone house has been used as a command center for the Frankfort Police Department during events such as 4th of July and as a dressing room and restroom for Santa and Mrs. Clause during the festival of lights.
