Several community-minded organizations pitch in to make sure no one goes hungry in Clinton County.
Thursday morning at the Boys and Girls Club in Frankfort, the National Guard, United Way for Clinton County, Frankfort Rotary Club and Food Finders Food Bank pitched in to put over $5,000 in food into cars for 173 families in Clinton County. This number translates to about 550 individuals served, according to Food Finders personnel on site.
It is estimated about 550 individuals were served by this one operation that took place in one hour.
Two cars were loaded at a time by National Guard and Frankfort Rotary Club members while the Clinton County United Way kept track of the flow along the line.
Several other organizations step up to deliver help to Clinton County families, including the YMCA, Salvation Army , Church Pantries, Society of St. Vincent DePaul and others.
According to United Way Director Anita Stewart, over 250 brochures were handed out during the operation highlighting locally available resources and job opportunities community-wide to help address some of the family needs in the area, including NHK job availabilities at 17.50 per hour.
Food placed into vehicles included frozen sausages, macaroni and cheese, grapes, assortment of canned goods, apples, fresh eggs and other items.
