Ten Zionsville Community High School Students have been selected to advance to the finalist standing in the National Merit Scholarship competition.

The National Merit Scholarship project is a prestigious, annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college scholarships, which began in 1955.

The program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, and United States high school students enter the program by completing the Preliminary SAT or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which serve as initial screenings of over 1.3 million entrants every year. The students are then evaluated based on whether they meet the published program entry and participation requirements.

To enter the program and compete for the recognition and one of the 7,880 scholarships that will be offered in 2025, students were required to have taken the qualifying tests in October 2023 and meet the program entry requirements. The students receiving the 2025 scholarships will most likely complete high school and enroll in college in 2025.

The current selection for the winners of the National Merit Scholarships is underway with 10 Zionsville students in the running to receive the prestigious recognition that has been associated with numerous outstanding scholars across the nation. Winners will be announced in April.
