Terry was born on March 25, 1959, to the late Eudoris “Nuite” and Phyllis (Griffie) Pennington in Rushville, IN. He grew up alongside his two sisters, Sonya (Tim) Carr and Marlena (Mike) Walton, and graduated from Westfield High School in 1977.
On July 18, 1987, Terry married Janet (Kissel) Pennington, at Mts. Runn Baptist Church in Zionsville, IN. Together they built a loving family that meant absolutely everything to him. Terry’s greatest joy came from being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He never missed an opportunity to support his family, lending a helping hand, sharing words of encouragement, or simply showing up when in need. His family was his proudest accomplishment, and he loved each of them deeply and unconditionally.
Terry began working for Custom Concrete right out of high school, fueling trucks, running crews, delivering forms, and taking on any job that needed to be done. In the early 1990s, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and started his own company, Rock Foundation. He later returned to Custom Concrete in January 1996, where he continued to run crews and became an Account Manager. Altogether, Terry dedicated nearly 50 years to the concrete industry—a testament to his loyalty, work ethic, and commitment.
A long-time and faithful member of Mts. Runn Baptist Church, Terry had a deep love for Christ that guided every part of his life. He sang in the choir, drove the church bus to bring children to services, and helped start a music night at church for anyone who loved to sing. Through singing and sharing music lyrics, Terry shared the message of Christ with a joyful heart, always hoping to encourage someone, uplift them, or help them feel God’s love. Over the years, he continued to sing at local churches and at the Arcadia Farmers Market with his good friend Kerry Davis and many others. Music was his ministry, his passion, and a gift he freely gave to everyone around him.
Terry is survived by his wife Janet and five children: Jennie (Jackie) Coy, Adam Hampton, Ethan (Caitlyn) Pennington, Jesse (Christian) Pennington, and Jeffrey (MiKaela) Pennington; as well as his eight cherished grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, Layla, Addison, Carter, Liam, Adeline, and Marshall. He is also survived by his sisters Sonya (Tim) Carr and Marlena (Mike) Walton, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
