The Farmers Bank Issues Fraud Alert That May Affect Account Holders Of Any Financial Institution

The Farmers Bank released a fraud alert for bank customers to be aware of active fraud on debit cards involving fake transactions from Amazon, and the bank stated that the fraud alert does not pertain to all account owners and is not due to a hack or breach.

The Farmers Bank encouraged account holders to check their transactions and contact the bank at 765-654-8731 if transactions cannot be confirmed, be aware of automated texts, phone calls or emails from the risk management team if fraudulent transactions are suspected for the account and use The Farmers Bank app and turn off the debit card using the “cards tab” at the bottom of the screen when not in use.

The Farmers Bank Operations Assistant Rhonda Lane answered several questions regarding the fraud alert, stating that some customers reported impacts by the Amazon fraud scam, and the bank worked throughout the week last week to ensure that customers were cared for regardless of whether they were impacted. Lane stated that the alert was not founded due to a hack or breach but rather an outside scam that was affecting customers.

Lane stated that affected customers that had the fraud transactions identified were contacted, and due to the fraud not affecting the bank itself, the team continued to work to find the solution before alerting the community of its presence.

“Sometimes we just don’t know how the compromise happens,” Lane wrote. “We aren’t trying to hide anything.”
