Thelma L. Yaryan

Thelma Louise Yaryan, 94, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, while each of her daughters were holding her hand. She was born March 4, 1931, in Whitestown, Indiana, a daughter of the late Francis Cleveland and Edna Pearl (Cochran) Hedges.

On August 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to James Max Yaryan in Whitestown. After 67 years together, he passed away on November 12, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Boone County, Thelma attended schools in Whitestown. She was dedicated to raising her children and took great pride in taking care of their home and working in the yard. She was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lebanon.

Thelma was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a great-great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling in Indiana, California, Washington and Florida. In addition, she liked to crochet, play cards, and spend time outdoors.

Survivors include three children, Linda L. (Fred) Trent of Antioch, Glenda J. (Rick) Avery of Frankfort, J. Michael (Joyce) Yaryan of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Renée (Shane) Morton, Travis (Allison) Trent, Stacey Avery, Tony (Celeste) Martin, and Paul (Karrie) Martin; ten great grandchildren and eleven great–great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hedges, Norma Hedges, and Patty Hedges; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Thelma was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine S. Yaryan; five brothers, Francis Thomas “Tom” Hedges, Donald Lester “Whitey” Hedges, James Hedges, Ernest E. Hedges, and John David Hedges; and sister, Pearl Luella Rogers.

The family would like to thank Paradigm Hospice and Homewood Health Campus for their care of Thelma.

Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2025, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
