Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Montgomery County

At approximately 10:38 p.m. Sunday, Trooper Michael was patrolling US 231 near County Road 600 S when he stopped a 2006 Honda Pilot for speeding. The driver was identified to be Giovanny Vargas, 21, Chicago, IL. While Trooper Michael was speaking to Vargas, he purportedly smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the Honda. Trooper Michael also noticed criminal activity might be afoot. During a subsequent search of the Honda, Trooper Michael located suspected Marijuana, THC wax/vape cartridges, psychedelic mushrooms, acid, a controlled substance, and a large amount of US Currency.

Further investigation revealed Vargas showed signs of impairment and failed the field sobriety test. Vargas was given a certified test, and those results are pending. Vargas and the passenger, Javier Saucedo Jr., 21, Illinois, were transported to Montgomery County Jail.

  1. Dealing Marijuana – Level 6 Felony
  2. Dealing a Controlled Substance – Level 2 Felony
  3. Possession of a Controlled Substance – Class A Misdemeanor
  4. Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangerment – Class A Misdemeanor
  5. Possession of Paraphernalia – Class C Misdemeanor
  6. Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor

  1. Dealing Marijuana – Level 6 Felony
  2. Possession of a Controlled Substance – Class A misdemeanor
  3. Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor

Trooper Michael was assisted on scene by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
