Two Teenagers Seriously Injured in Crash on I-65 Tuesday Morning

At approximately 7:37 a.m. Tuesday, Troopers from the Indiana State Police, along with other first responders, were called to the scene of a serious crash on I-65 northbound near Raymond Street. Preliminary reports were a pick-up truck had rolled off a bridge and two people had been ejected. When emergency responders arrived they located two females on the ground, both with serious injuries. Firefighters from the Indianapolis Fire Department, along with paramedics from EMS and officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department worked quickly to treat the patients and get them transported to local hospitals. A third juvenile, 10 year old Keilyn Stauffer, was entrapped in the wrecked Dodge pick-up truck, she was extricated by IFD and transported to a local hospital.  The driver of the second vehicle involved was not injured. The two people ejected were identified as 17 year old Kya Lasley of Trafalgar and 17 year old Megan Murray of Trafalgar.

Preliminary investigation at the scene by ISP Crash Reconstructionists, determined a white dodge dually pick-up, driven by Kya Lasley, was northbound on I-65 near Raymond Street, sideswipe collision occurred between the Dodge pick-up and a northbound red GMC pick-up. Investigators believe the collision occurred when the Dodge was changing lanes. The collision caused the Dodge to hit a guardrail on the right side of the highway, then a concrete barrier before overturning over the barrier and landing on a city street below.  During the initial impact of the crash with the guardrail and concrete barrier, both Kya Lasley and Megan Murray (front seat passenger) were ejected from the truck. Neither were wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the GMC was identified as 56 year old Nelson Concepcion Jr of Indianapolis, he was not injured.

This crash is still under investigation and there is no further information to release at this time, neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected as factor in this crash. The right two lanes of I-65 at Raymond Street were closed for approximately six hours while the crash was investigated, all lanes have since re-opened.
