A two-vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a utility terrain vehicle, known as a UTV, resulted in a fatality in Boone County Monday morning.
On Oct. 7, just after 10 a.m., the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a two-vehicle traffic accident that involved a pickup truck and a UTV that occurred in the area of 8800 West 300 South, authorities report.
Upon arrival to the scene, first responders reportedly located the UTV and pickup truck in the roadway, identifying the driver of the UTV as Stacey Sutphin, 61, of Jamestown and the driver of the pickup truck as Sherry Emmert, 73, of Jamestown.
Preliminary investigations reportedly showed that both vehicles were traveling west on County Road 300 South with the UTV traveling in front of the pickup truck before the accident occurred. The UTV reportedly conducted a left turn into a local farm at 300 South at the same time the pickup truck attempted to pass the vehicle, which caused the two vehicles to collide.
Sutphin was reportedly transported from the scene to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Emmert reportedly remained at the scene and was not injured.
Authorities stated that the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was requested to investigate the accident, and the incident is still under investigation with updates being provided as they become available.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Jamestown Police Department, Advance Fire Department and Witham EMS.
