The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the northbound lane of State Road 39 in Frankfort will close Tuesday, April 26 and 27 for utility work. This will affect the stretch of State Road 39 between State Road 38 and Washington Street. Neither southbound or northbound traffic will be able to turn east on Walnut (State Road 28). It will close starting 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 26. It’s expected to open back up at 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27.
The official detour follows State Road 38 to U.S. 421 to Michigantown to Washington Street and back to Jackson Street.
On Tuesday, April 26, crews will completely close State Road 28 east of Jackson Street, on Walnut, for phase two of construction. That closure is expected to last through the end of the 2022 construction season.
The completion date for this project is late November of this year.
