Virginia Lee Dickerson, 90, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. She was born May 29, 1933, in Lebanon, the daughter of the late Buren “Nick” and Dorthea “June” (Shera) Ailes.
On May 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to Wendell E. Dickerson in Boone County. He passed away on August 15, 2006.
A lifelong resident of Boone County, Virginia was a graduate of Jackson Township High School. She worked in various capacities throughout her life including clerical work for Brunes Realty and Dr. Honan’s office, groundskeeper at the Boone County Fairgrounds, and lastly, she was a cook in the cafeteria for Harney School.
Virginia enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, watching the Hallmark and Lifetime channels on television, golfing and gardening in her younger days. Above all, she loved her family with her whole heart. Virginia was known as “Mamaw” to many.
Survivors include daughters, Denise (Dennis) Rule of Jamestown and Rya Dickerson of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Leslie (Chadd) Rauch of Lebanon and Brandon Youkey of Thorntown; step grandchildren, Rebecca Nice of Indianapolis, Alyssa Rule of Lebanon, Ryan Rule of Lebanon; great grandchildren, Paige Jones, Dillan Rauch, Austin Rauch, Sophia Rauch, Lacie Youkey, and Ethan Youkey; step great grandchildren, Isaac, Emilia, Brayden, Charlotte, and Katelyn; brother, Tom (Marcia) Ailes of Lebanon; and
niece and nephew, Lori Jaggers and Scott Ailes.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacie Youkey.
Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, with Pastor Scott Ailes, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery, rural Jamestown.
