Western Boone Volleyball Wins State

The Western Boone Stars are the 2024 IHSAA 2A Volleyball State Champions.

For the first time in program history, the Stars are state champions. A historic season ends with the Stars on top after defeating Brownstown Central 3-0.

Senior Raegan Durbin has led the Stars’ attack all season, and she did it once again finishing with a state finals record of 24 kills for a three-set match.

But it takes a team to win a State Championship, and the Stars shined on Saturday. They played strong the entire match and won in straight sets 25-14, 25-13 and 25-18.

Sadie Poeck picked up 10 kills, Janie Ransom assisted on 36 of Western Boone’s 40 kills, the Stars fired seven aces, led by Olivia Smith, and the defense stood tall, collecting seven total blocks.

Western Boone finishes the year 26-5. Coach Laura Bragg picks up career win number 338, a win that will feel better than all others.
