Whitestown K9 Team Rakes In Seven Medals At 2024 K9 Olympics

A Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department K9 proved her was not just bark, but he could also bite during the Vohne Liche Kennels K9 Olympics last week.

During the events, Sgt. Blayne Root and K9 Gustav, known locally as K9 Gus, participated for the first time in the events together as handler and canine this year, and the pair brought home multiple medals to the Whitestown community.

With over 100 canine teams from U.S. police departments and the U.S. military in attendance, the duo strove for greatness, achieving four silver medals and three bronze medals.

Silver Medals:

  • Overall Patrol Team
  • Narcotics Residence
  • Fast Dog
  • Warehouse Detection

Bronze Medals:

  • Overall Narcotics Team
  • Overall Patrol
  • Tracking

The duo is already gearing up for their possible inclusion in the 2025 K9 Olympics next year.
