The Whitestown Police Department announced that a few of its officers and K9 Gus participated in the 5th Annual Fallen K9 Memorial Run/Ruck on National Police K9 Day on Sept. 1 to honor the K9 officers who had been lost in the line of duty in 2023.
The event was organized by K9s United, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to supporting working law enforcement K9s who detect, protect and serve their communities by providing the K9s with the best equipment and training possible while also honoring and memorializing those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
Four Whitestown officers joined the festivities alongside K9 Gus to honor the 26 K9 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023, and all proceeds of the run were utilized to benefit K9s United.
