At approximately 6 p.m. Friday, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Officers, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies, and multiple Boone County Fire/EMS agencies were dispatched to a vehicle collision with injury involving two bicyclists and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Eagles Nest Blvd and Indianapolis Road. Law enforcement and Fire/EMS personnel arrived at the scene and immediately began treating both bicyclists and the vehicle occupant.
The two bicyclists involved in the crash were transported to area hospitals with moderate to severe injuries. The bicyclists are actively being treated for their injuries at this time, and updates will be provided as that information is made available.
It was determined the passenger vehicle was exiting the Eagles Nest neighborhood and the bicyclists were traveling south on Indianapolis Road. Due to the severity of the injuries, the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash team is completing an investigation of the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor at this time.
