The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department dispelled rumors and reports of an attempted kidnapping in the area on Wednesday afternoon, stating that the reports were falsified.
The department stated that several inquiries were received by the officers regarding a reported attempted kidnapping in Whitestown on Wednesday. The officers reportedly responded to a report of kidnapping that resulted in an expedited and thorough investigation shortly following the call where numerous witnesses in the area of the reported incident being questioned that uncovered that the report was false and unfounded, police said.
The department encouraged citizens to contact the department with questions pertaining to possible incidents similar to the report of an attempted kidnapping as officers can deliver information to prevent the spread of false information and fear in the community.
