Witham Health Services celebrates National Volunteer Week. Amy Mitchell, Manager of Volunteer Services, noted it is a special time for Witham to recognize and thank our volunteers for the significant contributions they make to the hospital each day by generously donating their time and talents, and for their commitment to patient care, their compassion to patients, staff and the community.
Ms. Mitchell further noted Witham volunteers are often-times the first and the last point of contact Witham patients and guests have while at the hospital, making them a valuable part of the patient experience. The Witham volunteer team consists of more than 80 individuals, with over 34 volunteers currently working across 10 different departments and locations, including Pastoral Care.
Volunteers not only provide an important presence in the hospital, but also contribute to cost savings for the organization, Mitchell said. Witham Volunteers also conduct several fundraising events throughout the year to support the Volunteer Organization Scholarship fund for Boone County Seniors pursuing a continuing education in a health related field, and various fund the need initiatives for the hospital, as well as support and run the Waterfall’s Edge Gift Shop.
