The needlepoint group has been working diligently on creating a masterpiece for the team at Witham Pediatrics to thank them for their work and their dedication to the children of Boone County and the surrounding areas. Fifteen members of the group stitched sections of the large needlepoint picture depicting the timeless “There was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe” nursery rhyme to be displayed at Witham.

According to Witham staff and the members of the needlepoint group, the pandemic slowed the progress of the masterpiece, causing the piece to come together after a few years, showcasing the dedication of the women that prepared the needlepoint collage.

“The finished piece with all its fine details and intricacies shows their passion for stitching and took several years to complete,” the team at Witham wrote. “This spectacular piece of art is displayed in the Witham Pediatrics waiting room. Witham patients, staff and visitors will be able to enjoy it for years.”

Witham thanked Celeste Berry, Linda Burkhart, Betty Carr, Sonya Carr, Charlotte Frandsen, Jane Hammock, Debbie Harmon, Patty Hughes, Jeanne James, MaryAnne Koehler, Diana Miller, Audrey Nordstrom, Becky Ohman, Arlene Quinn and Marlena Walton for their work to bring the piece to life.

Visitors of the Lebanon branch of Witham will be able to view the work of art themselves in the Pediatric wing of the facility. For more information about Witham Health Services and the Pediatrics unit that warranted the needlepoint picture to be crafted, visit witham.org.
