A man has been arrested in connection with a homicide in Zionsville that occurred on Monday, April 8, police say.

On April 8 around 11:30 a.m., Zionsville Police Department officers were reportedly dispatched to 5375 West Old 106th St. in Zionsville to check on the welfare of a woman who resides at the address, but as officers attempted to contact the resident, they received no answer.

According to the department, since the officers received no answer at the front door, they began to check the grounds of the property, and they found the body of a woman who has not yet been positively identified on the property south of the home.

Officers reportedly secured the house and adjacent property and immediately began an investigation to identify the body and determine the cause of death. The Boone County Coroner’s Office released a report of the autopsy conducted on the body found on April 8 in the 5300 Block of West Old 106th Street, determining that the manner of death was homicide.

According to the department, the body has still not yet been positively identified, and once the Coroner releases official identification of the victim, the victim’s name will be provided to the public.

The department reported that a suspect has been placed under arrest at the Boone County Jail, and he was later identified as Graham Murphy Bixler, 30, and has been charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.

The investigation continues to develop as evidence is processed and interviews are conducted, and the department released a statement regarding the threat to the Zionsville community.

“Based upon progress made in the investigation and the arrest made of a suspect, we believe there is no threat to the public at this time, nor do we believe there are any suspects at large,” the department released.

During the investigation, the Zionsville police were assisted by the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office, Zionsville Fire Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Carmel Police Department and Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department.
