Zionsville Moves to Regional Championship Game Following Forfeit by McCutcheon

Zionsville was scheduled to travel to McCutcheon Friday night for a Class 5A sectional championship football contest in Lafayette. That all changed Wednesday when McCutcheon announced it has withdrawn from the state tournament due to a number of its student-athletes in quarantine.

What this means is that Zionsville moves on to a regional matchup on Friday, November 13, against the winner of Friday’s sectional championship clash between Fort Wayne North and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger.

Zionsville will take a 6-5 record into that game. McCutcheon finishes 4-7.

Two other Boone County teams will be playing in sectional championship game Friday. In Class 4A, Lebanon journeys to Indianapolis for a contest against 9-1 Roncalli. Lebanon is 4-4 and won two sectional matchups against Frankfort and Western. In Class 2A, Western Boone, 7-4, is on the road at 8-2 Seeger. Western Boone has beaten Speedway and North Putnam so far in the playoffs.

Game time for both games is 7 p.m.
