The Zionsville Police Department has announced that officers have received reports from community members that scammers are
attempting to defraud community members by pretending to be an officer to obtain personal and sensitive information.
The department announced on Saturday that officers have received reports of unknown individuals impersonating officers in an attempt to defraud community members of their funds. Detectives have been made aware of the scam and are actively investigating the reports.
“Please remember Officers will never call to solicit funds,” the department released. “Do not give out any personal information to the scammers. Detectives are aware of the situation and working on possible leads.”
Community members who may suspect that they are receiving a scam call are encouraged to report the incident to local authorities at 317-873-5967.
