WILO Presents Frankfort Eagles #976 Election Coverage 2023!
Judy Sheets won her bid in hopes of continuing to be Mayor of the City of Frankfort in Tuesday’s Primary Election. Sheets garnered 944 votes to 776 for Kirby. If the democrats put a candidate up against her, she will have to defeat them in the November General Election to officially win the term.
There were only two contested races for Frankfort City Council. For at the at-large position, Eric Woods was the winner with 1,028 votes. Megan Sheets was second with 934 and Brandt Fuller was third with 890. There were just two at-large seat available.
In District 5, Isac Chavez won by 16 votes of Joseph Bookwalter. Chavez finished with 168 votes to 152 for Bookwalter.
There were four City Councilman who won uncontested races. They were Clarence Warthan (District 1), Robert Joe Stevens (District 2), Michael Brite (District 3) and Steve Beardsley (District 4).
Carol Bartley won the uncontested race for Clerk-Treasurer and Matt Beardsley took the uncontested race for City Judge.
The Clinton Central public question won in a runaway as there were 271 votes to 53 no votes.
Since the Democratic Party file a ballot, they didn’t any have candidates running.
Voter turnout wasn’t too good as total of 16.46 percent voted with 1,057 being absentee. Just 972 voted on Election Day and there were a total of 19 paper absentee ballots.
All the voting centers were in the City of Frankfort. They were the Community Schools of Frankfort Administration Center, the Edward Jones Community 4-H Building at the Clinton County Fairgrounds and at the Frankfort Municipal Airport Terminal.
