Five Arrested Following Multi-State Investigation into Shooting of Tippecanoe County Judge

Information Provided by the Lafayette Police Department

The Lafayette Police Department announced the arrest of five individuals following a multi-state investigation into the January 18, 2026 shooting of a Tippecanoe County judge in the 1700 block of Mil Pond Lane.

According to LPD, the investigation involved hundreds of hours of investigative work and collaboration among numerous local, state, and federal agencies. The arrests were made as part of a coordinated effort spanning Indiana and Kentucky.

The following individuals were taken into custody and face multiple felony charges:

Raylen Ferguson, 38, Lexington, Ky.
Ferguson faces numerous charges including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated battery, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, battery by means of a deadly weapon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, attempted obstruction of justice, and gang and firearm enhancements.

Thomas Moss, 43, Lafayette
Moss is charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated battery, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, battery by means of a deadly weapon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, obstruction of justice, and includes gang, firearm, and habitual offender enhancements.

Blake Smith, 32, Lafayette
Smith faces charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated battery, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, battery by means of a deadly weapon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, assisting a criminal by providing a deadly weapon, and includes gang, firearm, and habitual offender enhancements.

Amanda Milsap, 45, Lafayette
Milsap is charged with bribery and obstruction of justice.

Zenada Greer, 61, Lexington, Ky.
Greer faces charges of assisting a criminal and obstruction of justice.

 

The Lafayette Police Department credited the success of the investigation to cooperation among multiple agencies, including the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, West Lafayette Police Department, Purdue Police Department, Indiana State Police, Kentucky law enforcement agencies, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
