Frankfort Police Report Decline in Drug Offenses and Overdose Incidents

The Frankfort Police Department has released updated statistics showing a continued decline in drug-related offenses and overdose incidents, reflecting ongoing enforcement efforts and community-focused prevention initiatives.

According to department data comparing 2024 to 2025, total drug offenses dropped by 10 percent, with 194 total offenses reported. Dealing and possession cases accounted for 136 of those offenses, representing an 8 percent decrease, while drug equipment and paraphernalia offenses fell 13 percent, totaling 58 incidents.

Overdose incidents also saw improvement. A total of 16 overdose responses were recorded, marking a 6 percent decrease from the previous year. Notably, fatal overdoses dropped to zero — a 100 percent reduction compared to 2024.

Of the overdose incidents reported:

  • Four resulted in criminal charges, a 33 percent increase

  • Two were determined to be accidental, unchanged from last year

  • Two were classified as suicide attempts, also unchanged

  • Eight resulted in no charges, consistent with the previous year

Frankfort Police officials credit proactive policing, community partnerships, and expanded awareness efforts for contributing to the positive trends.
