Mrs. Rebecca L. Merritt went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born July 12, 1947, in Lebanon, Indiana, a daughter of the late Loren and Fern (Everett) Armstrong.
On September 22, 1967, she was married to David W. Merritt in Lebanon; he survives.
After graduating from nursing school, she worked as an LPN in the neonatal department at St. Vincent Family Life Center in Indianapolis, retiring after 26 years of service.
Rebecca enjoyed genealogy, fishing, and watching her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and will be missed beyond measure.
Survivors include her husband, David W. Merritt; three sons, David Walter (Karen) Merritt, II, Wesley Dallas Merritt, and Thomas Loren Merritt; seven grandchildren, Becca, Lydia, Ada (Gabe), Boston, Nicholas, Anniston, and Miles; brother, Ed (Kim) Armstrong; sister-in-law, Linda Armstrong; brother-in-law, Carl Crane; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her siblings, Nina Crane, William Armstrong, and Stanley Armstrong.
Funeral services are planned for 12:00 noon on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Fayette.
