RAICES Festival This Saturday at Prairie Creek Park

The RAICES Festival will be held Saturday, September 19, at Prairie Creek Park, 260 E. Washington St. in Frankfort. The festival begins at 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

This year’s celebration, themed “Las Posadas: Luz y Esperanza,” will feature live music, family activities, cultural demonstrations and contests.

Entertainment will include Los Bravos del Sierreno Norteño and Banda La Kebradora de San Agustín Jalisco.

Activities planned throughout the event include:

  • Photo booth
  • Inflatables
  • Food demonstrations
  • Face painting
  • Parade
  • Traditional dress exhibition
  • Cabina 360
  • Mechanical bull
  • Magic show

The festival will also feature contests in tamales, art, essays, models, Miss Raíces and a “Who Can Eat the Most Pupusas” competition.

The RAICES Festival is a family event celebrating Hispanic culture, traditions and community. Admission is free.

The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Creek Park.
