Starting on April 14, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office began mandatory COVID-19 testing for all BCSO employees, to be conducted approximately every two weeks. The first test showed all negative results out of 131 tests taken. A second test was given to all BCSO employees on April 30, 2020, with one employee from the Enforcement Division testing positive for COVID-19.
Upon receiving the result on May 2, the employee was immediately quarantined at home, and will remain isolated for a period of two weeks. The employee will then submit to another test before returning to work.
BCSO continues to follow suggested guidelines, provided to us by local, state, and federal health authorities.
Sheriff Nielsen stated, “Our Command Staff has worked diligently to put in the proper policies and procedures to fight COVID-19. We have been fighting this invisible enemy for many months now and will not stop. Although we had hoped to have zero positive results of over 250 total tests administered, the hard work of our entire staff has minimized the number of positive results to one at this time.”
