
Besides Clinton, other area counties impacted include Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Hamilton, Howard, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Tipton and Warren. Impacted cities include Lebanon, Crawfordsville, Frankfort, Lafayette, Tipton, West Lafayette and Zionsville.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 are expected. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Another night of sub-freezing temperatures is likely Wednesday night and a Freeze Watch has been issued by the NWS. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 are possible.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possibly bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
In addition, hazardous weather will come into the area Tuesday for central Indiana, which includes Lebanon, Frankfort, Kokomo, Anderson, Carmel, Delphi, Fishers, Flora, Greenfield, Muncie, New Castle, Noblesville, Tipton, Winchester and Zionsville.
Rain will quickly transition to snow this afternoon into evening. Snow may quickly accumulate to around 2-3 inches before beginning to melt during the overnight hours. During heavier snow showers, visibilities likely will drop to near zero. Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s tonight causing a widespread freeze and leading to frost in spots.
