The Boone County Sheriff’s Office released further information regarding its investigation into threats made by a Western Boone Student following the administration’s release last week.
On Oct. 16, the Western Boone Administration reportedly notified the Boone County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Division about allegedly concerning internet searches and a document found on a student’s school-issued computer. The investigators reported that the document contained threats directed at specific students and staff members.
The Western Boone School Administration reportedly informed parents and teachers, especially those named in the document, about the situation shortly following the document’s discovery on Oct. 16, and the department stated that the administration took appropriate disciplinary action. School Resource Officers at Western Boone Junior-Senior High School reportedly filed a report, and an investigation for potential criminal charges is ongoing.
The department released that no current threat to any students, staff members or community members persists, and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies will continue to take proper precautions within the Western Boone Community Schools District with resources being available for students and staff members.
The case remains as an active investigation with updates being provided as they become available.
