Boone County Invasives Cooperative Invites Volunteers To Spruce Up Starkey Park Tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 2

The Boone County Soil and Water Conservation District announced its upcoming volunteer day at Starkey Park set for tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 2 with a second date set for Saturday, Nov. 9 for community members to help spruce up the Zionsville park.

Community members have been encouraged to join Boone County Invasives Cooperative for the volunteer day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 to help remove invasive bush honeysuckle. Bush honeysuckle has been noted to harm native plants, reduce bird nesting success and increase ticks and mosquitos.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear proper attire and bring water, snacks and work gloves for the work day. Participants should meet at the wooden shed via the gravel lane on Sugarbush Ridge.

Volunteers will receive a free native tree.
