From now until October 16, a selection of art from the Basquin Collection at the Frankfort Community Public Library will be on display in the Hubbard Art Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
In the 1970’s Kit and Pete Basquin operated the Washington Gallery on Washington Street in Frankfort. The library began purchasing works from the Washington Gallery when Kit Basquin’s mother, Virgina Gibbs Smythe, donated money to the library for that purpose. During the 1990’s, both Kit and Pete donated more art to the collection. The collection contains works in a variety of styles from multiple artists.
