Cass County Sheriff’s Office Accepting Applications for Merit Deputy Position

LOGANSPORT, Ind. — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the position of merit deputy, according to Sheriff Edward Schroder.

The application process is open through 12:00 p.m. on July 9, 2026. Written and physical agility testing is scheduled to take place on July 11, 2026. Applications may be submitted online or in person at the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, 100 Court Park in Logansport.

The position offers a starting salary of $65,961 along with a competitive benefits package. Deputies receive a take-home vehicle for off-duty use, access to an employer clinic, paid leave benefits, and participation in a vested pension plan after 25 years of service.

Applicants may also go through a background investigation, polygraph examination, written aptitude test, physical agility testing, and an interview with the Sheriff’s Merit Board.

Minimum qualifications include United States citizenship, being at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment, possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Indiana driver’s license, and corrected vision of at least 20/30 in each eye. Successful candidates may be required to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and will complete a one-year probationary period.
