All 37 acres of farmland behind Walmart on the eastern side of town now resides in the hands of the Community Schools of Frankfort.
The Board of Education approved a resolution to purchase the remaining 10 acres Tuesday night which will allow the district to start on a project.
“The reason why we’re purchasing that we want to put a future CT center back there that will be available and serve all of the four school districts in Clinton County with our shared pathways to the Wildcat Creek Co-Op,” said Superintendent Dr. Matt Rhoda.
This became a need when city officials where looking to purchasing the former Marsh building for a similar project. The Marsh building cost was too high and the building has fallen into disrepair.
The cost is $40,000 and will be made official when Rhoda signs purchase papers on September 20.
One thing that will be needed is school officials will have to have an access road built to the building.
The board also approved the hiring of adjunct teachers for the remainder of the school year.
Rhoda said the district is about 10 teachers short overall and this will help them fill those gaps. The adjunct teachers are teachers that have four years experience in the field they are teaching, but don’t yet have their teaching certificate.
Blue Ridge is the only school in the district that is fully staffed.
The board also a quote of $208,250 from Goudy Brothers to purchase tw new boilers fo the middle school. Rhoda said funds for this will come from ESSER III and that it will not hurt the district when it comes to its middle school renovation project in two years,
