Frankfort moved into the championship game of the Indiana Kitchen Classic boys’ basketball tournament Tuesday night with a 51-43 victory over Taylor in a semifinal matchup at Delphi.
The victory was the third straight for the Hot Dogs, now 3-6 on the season. They will play North Newton for the title. North Newton handled North Montgomery 59-37 Wednesday night for its fourth straight win and improve to 5-3.
On Monday night at Case Arena, Alex Farley scored a game-high 24 points to lead Frankfort to a 72-39 victory over Pioneer in an opening-round contest. Kye Kirby was next with 10 and Lucas Waggoner added 9.
Saturday night at Case Arena, Farley had 24 points and Kirby added 20 as the Hot Dogs got their first win of the year by defeating Sheridan 65-49. Doug Wood added 10 points for FHS and Edwin Wainscott added nine.
Rossville Falls to North Montgomery
North Montgomery outscored Rossville 17-12 in the second half on its to a 38-33 victory over the Hornets in the opening round game of the Indiana Kitchen Classic in Crawfordsville.
Jordan Skiles led Rossville with 10 points and five rebounds off the bench. Charlie Thompson added eights points and a team-high six rebounds. Brayden Thiele-Hahn had six points.
Saturday night in Lafayette, Central Catholic outscored the Hornets 36-11 in the middle two quarters on its way to a 52-31 victory.
Caden Wilson led Rossville with 10 points. Thiele-Hahn scored eight points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Friday night at Rossville, Wilson had 23 points and Thiele-Hahn added 16 but the Hornets fell to Carroll 68-62. Trailing 34-26, the Cougars outscored Rossville 20-5 in the third quarter.
Clinton Central Girls Down Rochester
Sara Parkison led three players in double figures with 16 points in a 47-31 non-conference victory at home Wednesday night against Rochester.
Erika Robbins had 14 points for the Bulldogs, now 13-1. Carly Davison added 11.
Tuesday night at Jefferson, Central outscored Clinton Prairie 23-3 in the opening quarter and rolled to a 68-26 victory.
Parkison, Davison and Robbins all scored 15 points to lead Central. Emily Long also reached double figures with 10.
Last Thursday, Central defeated Frankfort 57-17. Parkison led Central with 24 points and Davison added 13.
Vannessa Guardado led FHS with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Rossville Girls Fall to North Montgomery
North Montgomery outscored Rossville 20-13 in the second half on its way to a 31-27 Monday night in the opening round of the Indiana Kitchen Classic.
Ava Burkle paced Rossville with nine points. Allie Elliott scored eight points and Adi Gobett had seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Frankfort Wrestlers Compete in 16-Team Invite
Frankfort had three wrestlers finish in the top eight at the Twin Lakes Invitational Saturday in Monticello.
Daniel Martinez was the Hot Dog to reach the finals before falling in the title match and finish second. Chris Rascon finished third and Ariana Sierra placed sixth.
Last Wednesday night, Frankfort lost to both Rossville and Clinton Prairie. Going 2-0 for the Hot Dogs were Martinez, Rascon and Leo Roa.
Frankfort Swim Teams Fall to Lebanon
Last Tuesday night, the girls team held the lead over the Tigers until the 100 Freestyle where the lead would ultimately slip away resulting in a close 98-77 loss. The boys unfortunately lost as well to the Tiger but overall swam incredibly well.
Both teams dropped a total of 18 dropped times with four of those coming from relays. Swimmers who dropped times are, Isai Jimenez, Madison Campbell, Max Whitlock, Layla Mariaca, Natalia Hernandez, Jesus Mejia Mora, Brian Nicacio, Soraya Valencia and Nelly Cornejo-Torres. Next week during break the dogs travel away to face off against the McCutcheon Mavericks.
