At approximately 6:58p.m. Saturday, Kokomo Police responded to the 800 block of South Bell Street in reference to a male overdosing. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 38-year-old male who was unresponsive. Medics arrived on scene and began life-saving measures.
Officers spoke with the victim’s wife on scene. During the initial investigation, the victim’s wife led officers to believe the male overdosing was not accidental. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital In Kokomo.
Kokomo Police Investigators continued their investigation. Investigators arrested the wife of the victim; 36-year-old Sarha Steele for Criminal Recklessness, a Level 6 Felony. Sarha Steele was transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center.
On September 19, 2023, Howard County Prosecutor’s additionally charged Steele with Attempted Murder, a Level 1 Felony. Steele remains in custody at the Howard County Criminal Justice Center on $50,000.00 cash bond. The victim has been released from the hospital.
