KOKOMO, Ind. — The Kokomo Police Department is conducting a death investigation following an early morning shooting on June 21.
On June 21st, 2026, at approximately 1:37a.m., officers of the Kokomo Police Department responded to The Greatt Escape located at 2411 N. Washington Street, on report of a fight.
As officers were arriving on scene, numerous gunshots were heard being fired in the parking lot. Officers began securing and assessing the scene. Officers located 31-year-old Braylen T. Johnson of Kokomo, unconscious and unresponsive on the ground, suffering from suspected gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical medical personnel were immediately requested. Medical personnel arrived and transported Braylen to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased at approximately 2:07a.m.
This is an active investigation. Officers were assisted by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and the Howard County Emergency Management Agency.
