Logansport Man Arrested After Pursuit

The Frankfort Police Department reported that a Logansport man was arrested Friday night in Frankfort.

Twenty-five year-old Gerardo Grimaldo Perez of Logansport was found to be wanted out of Cass County for violation of probation for larceny.  He was arrested locally for resisting law enforcement.

At approximately 6 p.m. Friday, Frankfort Police were called to the 900 block of Walnut Avenue for a report of theft. Once on scene officers, conducted an investigation by speaking to the victim and alleged suspect.  While an officer was talking to the suspect, he fled running north through traffic on Walnut Avenue and then McKinley Avenue putting himself and officers a high risk of being struck by passing vehicles. A foot pursuit ended with the suspect being struck with a conducted energy device while trying to climb a dirt berm off Monon Street. It was effective.  He was transported to the jail after medical clearance.

The theft is still under investigation.

Local media was alerted that the suspect was shot by police while fleeing. This was not the case. The suspect was safely apprehended and remanded to the Clinton County Jail.
