Martha Ann “Peg” Beck, 96 of Lebanon Indiana died on December 27, 2023, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 30, 1927, in Lebanon, Indiana, daughter of the late Orlo Dewey Wright and Lena Evelyn (Beard) Wright. Peg graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945.
Peg met the love of her life, Jim Beck, when they were set up by friends. They wed on June 24, 1954, and were married for 44 years before his death in 1999. The pair loved to take road trips to the lake and go to Supper Clubs where Peg could dance the night away. Then, Jim and Peg started a family of their own having two wonderful children, Cathy and Jeff. They continued their love of travel with their family on many beach vacations. She was a loving mother who would drop anything to help her kids with whatever needed done.
She worked at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center, Western Boone Schools, and the Boone County State Bank. After Jim passed, her passion for reading and books led her to a post retirement career at the Lebanon Public Library for 15 years, finally retiring at the age of 87. While there, her passion for books and people combined to help others find their own zest for learning and a love of literature. A proud moment was when she was named Employee of the Year at the library.
Peg loved spending quality time with her granddaughter Ashton, attending her cheerleading and track events, offering advice, and teaching many life lessons. She was overjoyed to have her great grandkids over to her house, making her special “GG” breakfast by request and was always up for playing a board game or a round of ball.
She was a member of Central Christian Church.
Peg was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Orlo Brooks Wright, husband, and niece Cynthia Lee (Wright) Walker.
Peg is survived by her daughter Cathy (Brian) McCoskey of Lebanon, son Jeff (Kelli) Beck of Dunedin, FL, granddaughter Ashton (Dan) Israel and their children, great granddaughter Brynn, great grandson James of Johnston, IA, and niece Rebecca (Wright) Oliver.
Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
