Clinton Prairie sophomore Hayden Kample qualified for the boys’ state cross country meet Saturday at the New Prairie Semi-State.
Kample finished seventh overall in a time of 16:27.8 just 20 seconds behind Valparaiso senior James Dillabaugh, who was the top individual in a time of 16:07.8. Kample also had the best time by any sophomore at the semi-state.
As a team, the Gophers finished 12th in a 20-team field with 313 points. Chesterton won the meet with 91 points. Other teams in the top five were Valparaiso, Lake Central, West Lafayette and Warsaw.
Other Prairie results included senior Neven Chasteen, 17:31.6; junior Ethan Fleischhayer, 17:52.0; sophomore Ben Bragg, 18:14.0; junior Diego Moguel, 21:32.3; and freshman Diego Rangel, 21:38.7.
The boys’ state meet will be held Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute.
