Rachel Erin Worley was born on April 1, 1996, to Michael J. “Mick” and Leah Colleen (Griffin) Worley. She has 7 younger siblings: Courtney Paige, Erica Danielle, Sarah Rebecca, Andrea Brooke, Claire Michelle, Grant Michael and Trent Ethan. All of the Worley children were homeschooled and grew up together in rural Lebanon, Indiana. Rachel graduated with honors from Butler University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy, and afterwards became a self-employed piano teacher with 45 students whom she adored.
Rachel loved being outdoors, and spent a lot of time hiking, camping, and traveling. She recently went on a solo trip to the Appalachians in Virginia where she hiked 27 miles and had plans to return and hike the rest of the 100 miles she had originally planned. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting in her free time, as well as taking her Bearded Dragon, Mochi, on walks. She held a membership with Christ Covenant OPC in Sheridan for most of her life and recently began attending Genesis Church in Noblesville.
Rachel’s love for God was evident and she is now in His care, where there is no more death or mourning or crying or pain. She joined her grandparents, John Phillip Worley and Lois Maria Worley, and aunt and uncle, Richard and Christine (Heeter) Worley, in heaven on Sunday, September 24, 2023, while traveling in St. Clair, Missouri.
She has a large and close family who misses her and loves her very much: Her parents and siblings, her grandparents Harlan Charles and Merrilinda Griffin, her aunts and uncles Charles “Chuck” Griffin, Mario and Minda (Griffin) Ramsey, Steven and Jennifer (Griffin) Mozingo, Ronald and Heather (Griffin) Bruce, Gail (Worley) Quinteros, Robert and Melanie Worley, as well as 23 cousins.
A Celebration of Rachel’s Life is planned for 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Lebanon Christian Church, 610 West 250 North in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of services. Private Interment to follow. Myers Mortuary in Lebanon has been entrusted with her care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rachel’s name to Christ Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 6070 900 E, Sheridan, IN 46069.
