RED BARN PREMIERES “THE GERMAN TROPICS”

Frankfort’s Red Barn Summer Theatre opens the 58th season with the World Premiere of “The German Tropics,” a comedy by Red Barn Artistic Director Michael Taylor, sponsored by The Farmers Bank. The show opens on Wednesday, June 10th, and will run from Wednesday through Sunday for two weeks. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m., except for Sunday matinees, which start at 2:00 p.m.

“The German Tropics” is the name of a quaint B&B on an island just off the mainland. A young man named Jack has planned a secluded getaway with his lovely girlfriend April. Jack’s romantic plan falls apart as a tropical storm hits landfall, and his crazy ex-girlfriend shows up unexpectedly. Only then does Jack discover his very intimidating boss is staying at “The German Tropics” as well—his boss, who happens to be April’s father. The situation gets even more complicated as a surprise visitor finds their way onto the island just before the storm hits! Doors slam, identities are mistaken, and the laughs are non-stop as this production sprints at a breathless and hilarious pace from beginning to end.

On Wednesday, June 10th, the Opening Night celebration of “The German Tropics” will feature musician Joe Doyel on the Heather’s Flowers Music Stage from 6:15 until 7:15 pm.
