Revamped Courthouse Security Group Will Start Meeting in March

County officials are going to bring back an old committee that dealt with courthouse security next month.

Clinton County Commissioners President Jordan Brewer said Tuesday morning during the Clinton County Council board meeting that’s when they will be discussing the issue, which has become important, because the current Commissioners room in the courthouse is going to become the Judicial Center once the Annex, which is being built across the street next to Arni’s is completed, late this year and the first of next year and will house almost every office in the current courthouse.

Earlier this month, Commissioner Josh Uitts said that committee would be made up of the prosecutor, two judges, the Commissioners and the County Council.

County Councilman Jeff Chyonweth said Tuesday morning he thinks bringing the committee is good the the courthouse and the annex.

“I would welcome that we could work with the people that we have,” said Chynoweth. “It’s always been my idea to talk before we do anything and see what we can do with the resources that we have. That’s all.”

The topic was supposed to be talked about at the council meeting. But it was postponed until next moth when more information for both the council and the Commissioners to go through.

The council also heard discussions about the new salary ordinance, job classification and compensation ordinance before approving all three.

“I think it’s a great thing,” said Chynoweth. “It just puts us in line with the federal government requirements, it’s transparent and everybody knows what they’re hiring for the job coming in. We all know what’s expected. I just think it’s gives us all great clarity.”
